And the Harley Davidson-covers just keep on a'coming - this here is a very radical version by bigbeat-godfather J Saul Kane, better known as Depth Charge. Don't know who the fille is who sings the song like she's high as a kite. But boy, do I love that phat seventies organ sound. And yes, the clicks and glitches are supposed to be in the song. It's taken from this album, thanks to monsieur La Rue again for the mp3.
Depth Charge - Harley Davidson
Very old-school porn. Ought to come with a red lava lamp. I like music like that. Because.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTop tune!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI was just thinking: does everyone still know what 'bigbeat' is, or was? For the uninitiated: it was a term used when the first records bij Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim et al came out: big, loud drums, lots of fx, dance with a rock attitude. Depth Charge, along with Renegade Soundwave, was seen as godfather of this genre. But he never really broke through.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou can hear this number on SOMA FM's Secret Agent stream (http://www.somafm.com). There are enough covers of Gainsbourg's "je t'aime moi non plus" going around as well :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenguusbourg, just for a bit of "historic perspective" I remember there was a Johnnie Ray album released on late 50s called "The Big Beat".
