Zoé

Blonde et Belge, electrique et eclectique: Zoé. Her album Tout va bien will be released in a week or so, and it's is a pink box-o-chocolats. Varied, from tango to rock, pop-infused and triphop-inspired. Zoé studied at Bruxelles conservatory, played at various festivals and was part of a spectacle produced by the company of director Luc Besson - who signed her as the first artist on his record label. She worked with some great musicians, and duetted with gravel-voiced Belgian hero Arno. Her songs are mostly about what relations can do to people - so no trouble relating there.

(PS: my interview with Charlotte Gainsbourg was published today. If you can read Dutch, go here)

  1. Whenever Arno comes around, something special is coming up.
If Charlotte Gainsbourg is my favourite 'fille sourire', my all time favourite 'homme grogner' is without a doubt Arno Hintjens. What a voice! What a career! What a great performer this chanteur de charme is! His own recordings are getting better and better every next CD, but there's surely no one in modern music nowadays who can give better credits to the inheritance of legends like Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg or Salvatore Adamo imho. He truely deserved the 'Chevalier des Arts et Lettres' in 2002 for the way he gave new glance to the French chanson. Check for instance his brilliant version of Adamo's 'Les filles du bord de mer'. Well, check all of him.
    What a man! *sighs*

Sorry Zoé, your contribution also wasn't too bad at all ;-)
