If
Le Matin En Patins (Midday on
ski's skates) sounds like a kids song, you're on track. The song's written by Gilles Vigneault, a much loved Quebecois folk artist, and sung by the breezy voiced
Canadien Canadienne Ariane Moffatt. In 2002, she debuted on cd with
Aquanaute. A delicate, triphoppy album (listen to samples on her
site), that was a major succes in Canada - over 100,000 sold. Last year, she played with Francis Cabrel on the Francofolies festival in La Rochelle (France), this year a follow-up to
Aquanote should be released. Looking forward to that.
Le Matin En Patins is taken from a
tribute-album to Vigneault, but I heard it on the
Putumayo-compilation
French Playground. Putumayo also released the recommendable
French Café-compilation.
